Tom

Tom Mullany

Tom is from Dublin and graduated from UCD in 1984. He worked in a farm practice for two years before moving to England to work in a small animal practice. In 1989 he spent a short time as a visiting lecturer in the University of Lusaka in Zambia.

In 1992 he established Nutgrove Veterinary Hospital with William, and in 1999 became the first vet practicing in Ireland to be awarded the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology.

Outside of work, Tom’s passion is Ballyboden Saint Enda’s GAA club.

William Hayden

Originally from Wicklow, William qualified from UCD in 1984, and initially worked in small animal practices in England and Australia, before returning to Ireland to work in mixed practice.

After setting up practice with Tom in 1992 he gained the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Radiology in 1996 and is currently one of only a handful of vets in the country to have this qualification. His current interests lie mainly in ultrasound radiology and endoscopy, in which he takes referral cases from other practices. William enjoys karate in his free time and is an avid supporter of Ballinteer St John’s GAA club.

Darragh O’Hanlon BA Int, MVB, MRCVS, CertVD

From a young age, Darragh was exposed to the life of a veterinary surgeon, following his grandmother on calls to animals large and small around the midlands of Ireland. When the opportunity arose to join the exciting multi-discipline team in Nutgrove Vets, Darragh grasped the opportunity with both hands.

Darragh became an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in 2021, and was awarded a Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 2022. Darragh enjoys all things dermatology, from ears to anal glands, with a special interest in allergies. Darragh accepts dermatology referrals from all over Ireland. In his spare time, Darragh enjoys family life and is an avid Munster rugby fan.

Fiona Higgins BSc ( Hons ) MVB

Fiona is from Galway and qualified as a vet from UCD in 2018. She started her career in a busy small animal practice in Cornwall, UK. After almost two years there she returned home with her cat and two dogs to continue her career in Dublin, joining the team in Nutgrove Veterinary Hospital in February 2021.

Fiona is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine but is particularly keen on internal medicine and emergency surgery. She is presently studying for a Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine to further assist her patients when they are poorly.
Outside of work Fiona enjoys yoga, hiking, Crossfit and walking her dogs.

Rebecca Rennick

Rebecca grew up familiar with life as a vet, watching and learning from her father in his mixed practice in Galway. Following graduation from UCD in 2017 she moved to the UK where she worked in both referral and general practice before moving home to Dublin. In January 2024 Rebecca joined the team at Nutgrove Veterinary Hospital. She has a particular interest in feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, and diagnostic imaging. Outside of work she is an avid reader and writer, completing an MA in Creative Writing while living in London.

Grace Grace Kelly-Murtagh

Grace has been part of the team for 6 years. She studied animal health care in Dun Laoghaire and went on to Athlone institute of technology to study veterinary nursing. After college she travelled to Canada and worked on a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary for the summer and has recently completed a City and Guilds certificate in veterinary nursing for exotic patients. She has two little dogs – Cara an 11 year old chihuahua and Ralph a four year old terrier mix.

SarahB Sarah-Jordan O’Brien

Meet Sarah-Jordan, a member of our team here at Nutgrove since 2016. Sarah-Jordan completed a course in animal care and then went on to get her degree in veterinary nursing from Dundalk Institute of Technology. While working with us, Sarah-Jordan furthered her education by completing a certificate in small animal emergency and critical care.
Sarah-Jordan has a Bernese mountain dog/ Alaskan malamute crossbreed named Kovu, and a little bunny rabbit named Cinnamon Bun.

NIAMH-01 Niamh Ní Chuirc

Niamh qualified as a veterinary nurse from UCD in 2022. She first joined the team after completing a clinical placement here and continued to work with us throughout university, joining the team on a full time basis in March 2023. In her free time, Niamh enjoys running, sea swimming, and you will often find her at Herbert Park market on a Sunday.

Beatriz-Out-LR Beatriz Houbbi

Beatriz is from São Paulo and qualified as a Veterinarian from UniRitter, in Porto Alegre, southern Brazil. She emmigrated to Portugal where she worked as a Veterinary assistant and then came to Ireland as part of her internship for a masters degree in Veterinary Sciences in Portugal. She finds her purpose and happiness in caring for and advocating for animals and is eager to progress her Veterinary career in within Europe.

Sarah Sarah McGreevy

Sarah has recently graduated from a Level 5 and 6 in Dun Laoghaire where she did Animal Healthcare. Sarah joined the team at Nutgrove in November 2021. Sarah has just 1 dog who she’s in love with called Charlie. He is a Bichon mixed with a Tibetan terrier and is 3 years old.

Deborah Deborah Keane

Deborah has a Fetac Level 5 in Animal Welfare and Behaviour from Marino College. She has a particular love for big dogs, especially German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers. In her spare time she enjoys tennis and dog walking.

Hello my name is Megan. I am a veterinary nurse assistant. I did my Animal Care and Management course in Bray Institute of Further Education. I have two dogs and one cat, my Labrador Chelsea and my mixed breed Lucy and my little grey cat Jasper. I hope to go on to study veterinary nursing in the near future. In my spare time I enjoy playing camogie with Ballinteer St.Johns.

Emma-Out-LR Emma Murray

Emma is an animal care assistant and joined the team in August 2022. Emma completed her level 5 and 6 in Animal Care/Animal Science in Dun Laoghaire. She has two dogs, Poppy a six year old Cockapoo and Oscar a five year old Cavachon. In her spare time she enjoy horse riding and walking her dogs.
